There's an interview with Helen Garner in the 'Three Questions' feature on Lynne Hatwell's excellent Dovegreyreader blog - probably most of it has been heard before in Australia, but nonetheless a very attractive interview.
(warning - there are a lot of book cover images on that site, so don't fret if it takes a little while to load.)
And it's certainly not every day that we get a reading list from HG, either. Bravo Lynne. Subscribing to Lynne's blog is a triple whammy of delights - great book reviews, quilting and craft tales and a steady stream of magnificent photos of Devon and the dovegreyreader's home. A very pleasurable space indeed.

Wow, that is a great interview. Seems very unguarded and open - perhaps I'm imagining it, but more so than the Australian interviews I read. With reason, I guess.
Thanks for the link.

I think Lynne has such a welcoming manner it would be pretty hard to be too guarded!! and it's a nice thought that HG might open up more in more congenial settings, or simply to different audiences who are not laden with the baggage we've received from the press about her, though I have yet to check this against the Australian examples - some of it does sound a little familiar to me, but I am guessing.
I love that list, though. Iz going to read some Sereny, yesss.
